The recruiters are just sitting there because they didn't scared while they were the candidate, and they they were also candidates once, and you can sit too on their position, what you need to do is, just not be too much scared of it and throw a confidence like,
"I am sitting here, just pick me, Let me do everything, and yup, i can to convince you that i am the person that you have been looking for, right? so Pick me!"
And with that attitude you will not only get to sit in the chair of that recruiter but you can get the experience on coaching other people through job interviews as a negotiation and career coach, so we are gonna give you the guide to job interviews today, what you should do before that interview, during and after to ensure that you are setting yourself up for success, preparing correctly and giving yourself best shot you can to make sure you getting the job.
And always remember one thing that job interviews as much for you as they are for the company. It's like the recruiter interviewing you to by questioning every this that to analyze whether you are right for the company the same way the candidate is interviewing the company that whether that is a great fit for me or not!
Okay,, let's talk about what you can do before going to attend that interview:
1- Explore the Company's Website
The best way is researching about the company is visiting at their official website, do a proper research show that you have that keen interest in the company and the position, search about their vision, mission and back story, what inspired them or motivated, visit at the company's Glassdoor and take reviews of the previous employees their. it's like prepare yourself in the way that can turn the table on the other side, you ask questions to them, and this could only happen when you have done your research thoroughly on the company.
2- Practice, Practice and Practice!
You can practice the common interview questions with your friends or family or even with your own self by standing in-front of mirror. Structure a stories or narratives that demonstrates that you know the skills and the necessary requirements needed in this job. One more you practice responding, the more you going to be comfortable, It's like knowing your lines in a play. If you know them really well, you remember them when you are nervous as opposed to you having a general understanding and then backing out on the monologue.
3- You Should have Question for Them
This could be the biggest red flag if you do not have a question for them, like they said, ask if you have any question for us, and you said "No, i am satisfied or good", no, you are not going to do that. Instead ask one potential question, that get your response question prepped.
4- Search about the Interviewer
Done your research on the interviewer as well, find the name of that person from the job description post and search them on website, or LinkedIn and get to know about him, where he came from or where he worked before this and their key skills, this will make you more confident cause you will be aware then, with whom you are going to have a conversation. So you also want to look up the people you are going to Interview with on LinkedIn, and if you don't know then prepare a quick email, like "Hey! i would like to know whom i gonna chatting with tomorrow so i can feel well prepared and comfortable, get a insight so you can better connect with them."
5- Re-read the Job Description
Read out each and every point to make sure you will not forget to cover all, like if a bullet point says that candidate should know the time management, then prepare yourself with a specific story or example of a time in your past where you have managed time effectively, Get that?
Conclusion
Okay, just a couple of reminder, be on time, prepare with examples of your skills, practice, you need to give yourself something to do before framing your answer, taking the time to gather yourself so take something in your hand to play if you that kinda person, or just take the glass of water which is in-front of you, take a sip, and then easily utter your answer, eat properly, and take a good night sleep before the day your interview is, and one more thing which i kinda do when i need to feel that power inside me, i used to listen songs like "Unstoppable or Standing in Hall of Fame" so you can do the same, listen what empowers you, and that's it, best of luck!
